An ISO 27001 Internal Auditor course teaches you how to plan, conduct and report internal audits of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) against ISO/IEC 27001:2022. Training covers audit planning, interviewing techniques, objective evidence, risk assessment, security controls, nonconformities and audit reporting.
Yes. ISO 27001 Internal Auditor training can be completed online, allowing you to develop information security auditing knowledge without attending classroom-based training. Our course uses practical examples to help delegates understand ISO 27001 requirements and how to apply auditing techniques in real workplace situations.
ISO 27001 Internal Auditor training focuses on evaluating an organisation's own Information Security Management System. Lead Auditor training generally provides more extensive preparation for planning, leading and managing audit teams, including external audits. Both involve understanding ISO 27001 requirements and applying recognised auditing principles.
Previous auditing experience is helpful but is not always essential for introductory internal auditor training. A basic understanding of information security, organisational processes and management systems will help. Auditors must also develop the competence, impartiality and practical skills appropriate to the audits they undertake.
An ISO 27001 Internal Auditor evaluates whether an organisation's ISMS conforms to applicable requirements and is effectively implemented and maintained. This includes reviewing policies, interviewing employees, examining risk assessments, sampling records, evaluating controls and reporting audit findings to management.
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Clause 9.2 requires organisations to conduct internal audits at planned intervals. The audit programme should consider the importance of processes, changes affecting the organisation and previous audit results. The standard does not prescribe a universal annual audit frequency.
